petraeus' resignation. general john allen is being investigated by the fbi for alleged inappropriate communication with the woman at the center of the petraeus scandal. investigators uncovered 20,000 to 30,000 pages of communication, mostly e-mails between allen and jill kelley. kelley is the longtime friend of the petraeus family who complained about being harassed by the woman petraeus had an affair with. a senior administration official denies allen committed any wrongdoing and expects to return to duty as commander in afghanistan as the investigation continues. this morning general allen is in washington, d.c., preparing for his senate confirmation hearing. aides close to allen say he didn't find out about all this in the investigation until tonight and the general will still appear his meetings scheduled on the hill today. >>> and on the same topic this morning, the fbi will not say what it found at the home of the woman in the center of the david petraeus scandal. agents searched paula broadwell's home last night. they left with what appeared to be documents and paperwork. broa

' mistress allegedly sent threatening e-mails to you. the fbi reportedly uncovered 20,000 to 30,000 allegedly inappropriate e-mails between allen and kelley. she's a social liaison at the military base in florida. the general insists he's friends with kelley, but paula broadwell apparently saw her as a romantic rival. the fbi is keeping quiet of a search of broadwell's home. agents searched her home for five hours last night. they left with several boxes. broadwell's relationship with petraeus first came to light when the fbi began investigating jill kelley's claims that broadwell had sent her threatening e-mails. and the fbi is putting together a time line of the investigation to explain to members of congress why they were kept out of the loop until recently. they didn't know about the probe until last tuesday even though it had been going on for months. senate intelligence chair dianne feinstein said she learned about it from the media last week. meantime, she says petraeus will still testify before the committee about last month's deadly attack on the embassy in libya. petraeus

former partners. dhs, fbi, cia, the white house, we sit on these policy boards so that we can all collectively address the problem that will take us into the next century. our best defense is going to be understanding the offense. as an intelligence organization, we spend a lot of time in the offensive mud. we collect human intelligence. as they consider ways to address the threats in the 21st century, left to also understand they're not all technology base. you all of legislation that drives what you do every day. i would anticipate this year, senator collins introduced a cyber security bill. it was geared towards a single owner of all things cyber. it is kind of hard when you have millions of people working for the government. in the end, you'll see cyber legislation that addresses standards of operating -- operating standards of performance, standards of protection, and how each agency does it will be very different. so much like a common definition lexicon, there will be standards. laws that can define acceptable behavior in cyberspace. good, bad, or indifferent, every person

morning. >> reporter: jon, good morning. actually it's the same woman who launched the initial fbi investigation that led to the resignation of general david petraeus. she is jill kelly. apparently she has exchanged 20,000 to 30,000 e-mails, at least that many pages of e-mails with general john allen. john allen replaced general petraeus in afghanistan. now, these e-mails have been discovered and are under investigation by the inspector general at the pentagon. what was their relationship? we do not know. that question was not answered by senior defense officials. but they do say that allen denies any inappropriateness, any wrongdoing. interestingly he was already in town for a confirmation hearing that was previously scheduled for thursday. they were moving him from afghanistan to europe to oversee our forces there. that requires senate confirmation. he was here preparing for that. now according to the defense secretary who made the initial announcement early this morning about this new investigation, that confirmation is on hold. he keeps his job until they have some evidence tha

u.s. infrastructure in terms of how we are protecting our homeland. the fbi does have the law enforcement peace. those here this morning and know exactly why they have that. nsa, also known as cyber command, has the cyber command to drive the entire structure and the policies by which we are going to deploy various networks around the world. cia doesn't do that work but we can't do our work without collaborating am working with each of them. despite the fact that sometimes the matter what the news says, you do not do this alone. we do it with all our partners in the public and private sector. cia does partner with our agencies. we do, i heard a lot about for each of you, you talked about co-ops, internships, opportunities. the partner with these agencies to leverage our own employees and prospective employees to get the best match for the person. we are investing in the future and the future is you. at some point, i will find a beach somewhere but at some point, you will all be in my job. it is important for us to leverage our partners private and public to get the best office
